Gruene is an old German town in the hill country.
This town is full of charming little shops selling things like canned peach cobbler, christmas ornaments, fairy cookbooks, candied nuts, assorted home decor, old guns, dusty books, and a plethora of other antiques. Here are the guys waiting outside such shop. This must have been my favorite one.

Here is the candied nut shop. Those jars behind Annie hold delicious samples. After we tried everything, we were full and didn't really need to buy....but we did.
Gruene is famous for its old dance hall which boasts itself as the birthplace of famous musicians' careers such as George Strait, Lyle Lovett, Hal Ketchum Charlie Robinson and others. We didn't go in the dance hall...just stood outside and could hear the music loud enough. Besides, we were entertained by the flocks (is it? sounds good) of assorted butterflies flittering among the tall grassy flowers.
